The English Inn is a beatiful Italianate-style Victorian built in 1885 by Henry Bash, the US Shipping Commissioner. Conveniently located just a few blocks from the Uptown Historic District, the grand house sits on large private grounds surrounded by gardens with holly trees that Henry planted himself. Set far back from the street, it is quiet & peaceful. Yet, we are within a minute or two of every great thing Port Townsend has to offer!
As soon as you walk in the front door, you are greeted by the warmth & welcoming atmosphere which will surround your stay with us.
As you enter the front door with leaded glass design you are greeted by a long impressive grand staircase. The Parlor to the right of the entry is a large inviting room with 12 foot ceilings and fireplace. The magnificent silk wallpaper border is original and accented by stunning green walls, gorgeous fireplace mantle and beautiful antiques. Enjoy relaxing by the fire with an afternoon cup of tea, or a nice glass of wine with friends in the evening. The large bay window with window seat overlooks the gardens, warm and sunny, this is a great spot to enjoy a good book. The house has little altering from it's original state.
The formal dining room off the Parlor is spacious and comfortable, filled with interesting British decor. Continental Breakfast is served each morning between 8:30 and 9:30, with granola, yogurt, breakfast bread, fresh fruit, juice, coffee and tea.
The garden at the Inn contains a gazebo where you can sit and enjoy a relaxing evening and glass of wine. The gardens are constantly changing with the seasons.
We offer wireless internet in all our rooms.
The English Inn tries to be very environmentally conscience. To save energy and for the privacy of our guests, we do not enter guests rooms while they are staying with us; we only enter your rooms to freshen towels if you ask us to. We recyle and try not to be wastefull. We appreciate our guests helping in our efforts to be kind to the environment.
